ABOUT US
In the early 1990 Hong Kong looked like a candle in the dark. Hong Kong was a proud and prosperous island in a sea of poverty. Migrant workers flocked to Hong Kong in numbers in search of survival.
In the beginning, helping the poor looked like a mission of the Hong Kong Full Gospel Businessman's Christian Fellowship. This was a group of about ten people who used to meet every Saturday for breakfast, prayer and praise. They welcomed any other person to their meeting who confessed that Jesus was Lord and Savior. In a short while the job of caring for the poor became too huge for ten people. Giving had to be as systematic and well thought through as other business practices. Kayiwa Foundations Revolving Fund was established in 1993 . We have taught ever since that living a life pleasing to God is the Master key to Prosperity - which you see in our logo. With more than twelve years of experience, we are now more than convinced that the sick cannot proper, the homeless cannot prospers, the jobless cannot prosper and the list goes on. Fighting one's illness must include fighting the other "dis-ease". The poor may lack money but not ideas. We encourage the needy to design projects that require funding or tools and we pattern with others to supply the necessary assistance. We are a Community Agency for Relief and Education Services. Now you know where we pick our cares@kayiwa.com address from.
In 1996 Fundacao Kayiwa was set up in Macau to assist the urban poor in the City of Macau. In 2000 we opened a branch office in Uganda. We aspire to open more branches in other countries. It takes time for affiliate offices to become self supporting. Until such a time the Hong Kong office acts as the driving force behind the development - coordinating the funding and supplying back-to-work tools. We encourage beneficiaries of our programs to tithe part of their income to uplifting other poor people. The urban poor usually have families away from town or families in other countries whom they can eventually support.
