| Slimer prop replica built back in 2000.This is a 25 pound heavy replica of the "Slimer" Ghost character seen in the 1984 film "Ghostbusters". It took me 6 weeks to sculpt him out of "Great stuff" Sealing foam . References were hard to find since Slimer's face is always changing for the worst. No pic I found of him was the same. It all had to be averaged out to the final result. I started by observing all the different Slimer versions out there. There is a the GB1 version which is the first Slimer ever with the "Upside down" light bulb shape and the GB2 version with different bottom rolls. I drew a couple of scketches from movie observations to have something more solid to work from. Pausing a VHS tape wouldn't give you such a clear image. A blury, translucent green cloud that blends with the background the most. Slimer's body is fully hallow. using cardboard sheets, I made a skeleton to serve as support. An Aluminium foil skin was added to cover the skeleton and endless layers of great stuff sealant foam was applied. |
