From Mary Jibson of Australia, 5 June 2002
Hi David Good to hear from you again - Our line comes from William (b1820)eldest son of Richard Jibson(b1784) & Mary Prince with his grandparents being the original Robert Jibson(b1754) & Mary Wolton. William (b1820) had a son William (b1847) who had a son Frederick (b1870) Frederick died (1905) and his wife Harriet migrated to Australia with her three young Jibson living sons - Leonard, Frederick & Stanley (b1903). This is my husband's father and is the Stanley Jibson in the St. George cemetery. Frederick, brother of Stanley (my husband's uncle) is also buried in the St. George cemetery. The other Jibson's in the cemetery are:- Brian Stuart - our son, Edith - my husband's mother Leonard John (known as John) - my husband's brother Margaret is my husband's cousin - daughter of Frederick How did you come by the information from the St. George Cemetery? Harriet Jibson went from England to St. George and took a position as a cook in one of the hotels. Her three boys grew up there. The eldest Leonard left and moved to Brisbane and is buried in a cemetery there. The two brothers Frederick and Stanley stayed in St. George all their life and raised there families there. Harriett re-married and left St. George. Do you have any records of any other Jibsons moving to Australia. My daughter made contact with a gentleman in Victoria who had married a Jibson but we have no record of any others in Australia. He thought his wife's ancestors moved to Western Australia but we have never been able to find any information for this. I moved to to St. George as a young girl with my family and later married my husband Keith. We have had six children.- 2 deceased We moved from St. George 28 yrs ago.

From Ron Jibson of Owen Sound, Ontario - February 2003 (via snail mail)
Dear David:
I am writing you in response to your letter. We must be related, but I don't know how yet.
William and Alice Jibson (her maiden name was Gibson) are my grand parents. They had six children; John, Percy, Robert and, my dad, Clarence. There were also two girls.
My mother is also Alice Jibson (Hemsworth). All the Jibsons were from around Yorkshire, England. My great grandparents were William Prince Jibson and Hannah Elizabeth. They were from Howden. My mother and my sister, Marion Jasper are going to get on the Internet.
Best Wishes,
Ron Jibson.
From Alice (Hemsworth) Jibson of Aylmer, Ontario, April 24th, 2003
Dear Dave:
I hardly know how to start this letter but will do my best. William Cleminshaw Jibson was born July 18, 1873 in the district of Newport, County of York. His father was William Prince Jibson, occupation Butcher.. His mother was Hannah Elizabeth Cleminshaw. William came to Canada in 1913 with a family of four [children]: John, Nellie, Percy and Bob. Two more were born later, Mary and Reginald. All settled around Aylmer and there were 9 grand children. Not a very big clan but we were all close. Bill, Robert and Joan were Robert's children. Ronald is my son.
I will introduce myself, the spouse of Reg. I am a Yorkshire lass come over in 1928 with mother and dad. They had 5 children. After I married Reg in 1938 we made our home with Dad and Mother Jibson until they both passed away. We were farmers for years. In 1951 we bought a house on 2 acres and my husband got a job with the highway department. I can't remember hearing about any of the other Jibson family. Nobody kept any correspondence with them. Nobody in our family ever returned to Yorkshire to visit.
My name was Alice Hemsworth and that is an old English name. There aren't many of them on the go now either.
Yours Sincerely,
Alice Jibson, RR2, Aylmer, Ontario, Canada N5H2R2
