In fact, so economical and efficient is the building systems that about 150 units at Neo Vista Homes Caloocan are already completed and ready for occupancy just less than a year after the project started. Neo Vista Homes is the first development project of Hammercon Inc., a Cebu-based company which started in the construction business in 1976. Roderick Ngo, Hammercon president and chief executive officer, said his company was able to finish the 150 units at Neo Vista in record time with the use of a "mobile housing factory" supplied by Western Forms International, Inc.. a company based in Kansas whick is a pioneer in innovative building systems technology. The Western Forms technology employs portable aluminum forms used for monolithic cast-in-place pouring of concrete, resulting in a very strong structure and beautiful surface finish for the housing units. Ngo said that with the mnolithic cast-in-place method, they were able to finish two-storey townhouse units a day at Neo Vista Homes with only 20 workers. "The good thing is that you don't even need skilled workers to do the job, so this technology is really very suited for the low-cost housing projects, because low construction and labor cost means lower prices for our townhouse units," Ngo said. The technology, he said, is perfect solution to the country's housing shortage because aside from being affordable and easy to construct, houses built with Western Forms technology are very durable, because they are termite-resistant and can withstand typhoons and earthquakes. Ngo said Neo Vista Homes Caloocan is located at Bagumbong Road in Novaliches, Caloocan, a mere 15 minutes away from the Meycauayan or Malinta exits of the North expressway. The project will have its openhouse and blessing on April 13. |
