March for Parks

Willard Hutt, Executive Director of the Association for
the Education and Preservation of African-American History, will be leading AEPAH's 2000
March for Parks event. March for Parks is America's largest annual Earth Day event,
created to raise money for parks across the United States.
There will be a walkathon and tour of African-American
sites in Washington, D.C. The tour will be conducted by the Executive Director of the
Association for the Education and Preservation of African-American History. Funds
collected will benefit the Washington,
D.C. Black History National Recreational Trail.
The walkathon and tour will start at the Frederick Douglass Home in SE
Washington D.C. at 8 AM on Saturday, April 22. A second tour will begin at 12 noon. The
tour will follow the Black History Trail route.
Brochures exploring the African-American History of
Washington, D.C. will be provided. The walkathon will last approximately two hours and
will conclude at Dumbarton Oaks cemetery. Hikers can either walk the trail back to
the Frederick Douglass Home or catch a van back to the Frederick Douglass Home.
Pledge forms can be mailed to you or picked up at the Walkathon. Please

to request pledge forms. Pledges and Donations are due by June 1, 2000.
If you live in another city and cannot make it to
Washington, D.C. to participate, tax-deductible pledges and donations can be made directly
to the Association for the Education and Preservation of African-American History.
