WHERE DO I START? WE'VE spent $1000's repairing this vehicle, it seems hopeless. Speed above 30 mph causes a whining sound which we believe is the turbo AGAIN. The heating system would blowout in the worse weather. My brakes continued to squeak after replacing every possible part. My transmission isn't shifting into proper gears. Is this car just a LEMON?

Ours went out and tore up nearly the entire engine!total cost will be roughly 4000.00 with less than 70 thousand miles on it! not to mention the freeze plug that just so happened to be u der warranty, and transmission hose that cost 450.00! what a nightmare! anyone else having these problems we would love to hear from you.

SUBSTANCE OF COMPLAINT V. DAIMLERCHRYSLER, DODGE DIVISION AND A CERTAIN CHRYSLER SERVICE OUTLET, LAFLAM OF NEW JERSEY, ET AL 1. Dodge/Chrysler did knowingly forestall notification in general to owners regarding the benefits of remedial action in response to symptoms of impending transmission and air conditioning problems; 2. Did knowingly fail to notify owners or remediate problems at the point and time in which particular cars were available for such procedures within a Chrysler repair facility and which were at the time covered by warranty; 3. And in so doing, caused remedial actions to be forestalled until such time as components failed, but specifically, failed after such time as the warranty was expired; 4. And in so doing, illegally avoided obligation for repair and/or replacement of such components; 5. And further, Dodge/Chrysler did therefore cause previously advertised warrantie to become false and misleading, and in addition, commited a conspiracy to defraud customers of rightful compensation. Notes: Transmissions in question exhibited symptoms known to repair facilities that were described as a "rumble strip" feeling upon shifting; imminent air conditioning failure at the evaporator unit was known to be a result of a poorly designed air intake screen eventually causing wet debris to "rot" unit.

IN DECEMBER OF 1996. I PURCHASED A 1995 FORD WINDSTAR. FROM BANNER FORD 1665 SCOTT BLVD. DECATUR GA. 30033. MARCH OF 1997 THE VECHILES TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VECHILES WARRANTY COVERED THE REPAIRS. EIGHTEEN MONTHS AFTER THIS, IT FAILED AGAIN. THIS TIME THE WARRANTY WASN'T IN EFFECT. BANNER FORD WANTED US TO PAY THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS, FOR THE REPAIRS,WE WERE OUTRAGED!!! THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT EVEN ACCEPT A THOUSAND DOLLAR DOWNPAYMENT ON A TRADE IN. I CALLED FORD MOTOR CREDIT, AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS OUT OF THEIR HANDS! I GAVE THE VAN BACK TO FORD. THEY TURNED ME INTO AN ATTORNEY. DANIEL BRIDGERS IN ATLANTA. I NOW HAVE TO PAY HIM ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS A MONTH ON THE AMOUNT THAT FORD SAYS I OWE THEM. I NEED AN ATTORNEY TO HELP ME FIGHT FOR MY MONIES PAID OUT. I HAVE SINCED LEARNED THAT FORD HAS PAID SOME CONSUMERS FOR THEIR PROBLEMS WITH THIS VECHILE.

I discovered that my radiator overflow cap was cracked. I phoned dealership McKevitt Volvo up in Oakland. They said nothing about possible damage to my car, and simply made me a 60,000 mile checkup. On the way up to the dealer my engine melted! They sa it is owner neglect, and will cost me $11,000 for new engine. Of course my extended warranty will not cover any damage caused by a none-covered part. Anyone else have this happen? Problems with overheated conditions.

Wednesday, July 05, 2000 Richard Buchheit 7 Volvo Drive, POB 915, Rockleigh NJ 07647 Mr Buchheit: I am writing this you this follow up letter to clarify a phone conversation that occurred between Richard Raina and myself. I was a satisfied repeat Volvo customer. I am totally dissatisfied both with the automobile and the conduct and performance of our corporation. I am dissatisfied because my expectations of what a Volvo car should be versus the reality of the Volvo car I have permanently parked in my driveway. Owning two previous Volvo automobiles, that had few if any mechanical concerns whatsoever, formed my ex ectations. . Your company can’t defend itself by hiding behind a warrantee, nor can it defend itself by rationalizing away my concern by stating the car has an acceptable level of defectiveness. Based on my expectation, and your company’s’ representations regarding q ality and safety the car is not acceptable. The correct and least expensive course of action for your organization is to meet me halfway. It will be an expensive and futile proposition for your company to fight a battle in the court of public opinion. Sincerely, Warren Pollock Cc: Edward. Sumber ESQ. Richard Raina Sean Coughlin

As of today I have not received a call back from Volvo. My position at present is to leave the car with you until I get some f llow through from your organization. Warren Pollock 659 Peekskill Hollow Road Putnam Valley, New York 10579 Thursday, June 15, 2000 Sean Coughlin Hudson Valley Volvo 1152 Route 9 Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 The conduct performance and service at Hudson Valley Volvo has always been of the highest quality. With this in mind I would like to enlist your help in arranging a meeting with an executive within Volvo USA, Inc. with the authority to set a circumstance right. Essentially I expect that the quality of the 1999 Volvo currently under lease to be at the same level of the previous Volvo’s I have either owned or leased. Perhaps, the lack of quality of the Volvo I am currently leasing could be an anomaly. My 1992 Volvo has been in working operation without any mechanical concerns since the time it was purchased. The 1996 Volvo worked properly from the date of lease to the date it was returned. In contrast the 1999 vehicle, parked in your lot, has had a yriad of quality problems which at times, and at present, have made the car inoperable. As a Vice President of a publicly traded company I understand that one’s reputation in the marketplace tends to be a fragile commodity, that if lost can rarely be recaptured. The situation at hand is not acceptable and the solutions will either be forth ight and speedy, or they will be at the expense of Volvo’s reputation and public image. I therefore ask Volvo USA to address rather than evade this concern I am entitled to drive a quality vehicle because that is what Volvo is supposed to sell based both on my personal past experiences and Volvo’s public representations Sincerely, Warren Pollock

I bought a volvo 850 GLT in December 1994. It was brand new, from the authorized dealer. Being a husnband and father I had two things in mind when I bought the car Quality and Safety. I had a lot of faith in volvo and its reputation and was a proud owner But that has all changed. I have had problem after problem with this car. I have spent thousands of dollars in maintenance and repairs. I have also had a few near misses in this car which is claimed to be the safest car in the world. Ever since buying the car I have changed the radiator and overhauled the engine for overheating, I have changed the whole automatic transmission system because it failed on me all of a sudden and volvo doesn't want to claim responsibilty. This cost me a f rtune. How can a car which claims to be a luxury car and a good quality car have so many flaws even though all service and repairs have been done in the authorized dealer's workshop. In addition to the fact that it has only been driven by one owner who as made sure to keep the car in tip top condition and drive it safely. I am in the process of preparing a report to be sent to Volvo, Sweden to make any decision makers in this company aware of the flaws and poor service. My advice to you? If you love your family and are concerned about their safety and if you want to avoid squandering hard earned money left and right then take it from me DON'T BUY A VOLVO!

I would appreciate information about any possible problems with Volvo 740 GL's. I have had many problems trying to get a correct and lasting repair on my car. I've gone to the Volvo dealer, a local service station, a used volvo dealer. I've spent $1000's and nothing seems to work. After a few weeks I end up back in a repair shop being told that they will try something else and that it might be a different computer or it might be some other thing. It just gets more and more frustrating and frightening. Thank you Help! Is there any way that I can actually get an accurate repair done that will not cost me an arm and a leg, but will get the problem fixed. Is ther a Volvo consumer telephone number! I'm desperately seeking an answer. D.Green

My 1999 Toyota Avalon with a V-6 engine is smoking badly and apparently suffering engine failure. The dealership is refusing to honor the warranty for this problem because I changed the oil at 10,000 miles intervals instead of 7500 miles intervals as spec fied in the owner's manual. This might well shorten the life of the engine, but should not, I believe, lead to engine failure on a year old automobile. I am interested in corresponding with others who might have had similar experiences, or who have any information bearing on my problem. Thank you.

The V-6 Camry engines in my Sienna and my Dad's Avalon failed before 30,000 miles losing cylinder compression. No oil or engine failure lights came on. After tearing the failed engines down we found flaking, cracking, and melting of the main bearings and defective sensor wires. After arbitration, a Federal Suit was filed against Toyota Motor Sales and Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky. In USA TODAY there was a report that said that many of the 1995 to 1998 Toyota vehicles have serious defects.

About 2 years ago another crack has developed in the dash from the windshiel down in the location near the end by the driver's side. I have had to replace the switch for the roof, had the air bag deploy on its own and other dashboard items. IT APPEARS TO ME THERE IS TOO MUCH HEAT UNDER THE DASH.

This type of car has a problem in the electrical system. After 3-4 days of inactivity the car will not start. According to the dealer the problem is a poorly designed switch in the doors that triggers an internal light. The switch is malfunctioning and allows the light to remain on and thus drains the battery over time.

Please contact me if your 850, v70 or S70 has slipped out of gear (automatic transmission). My car was parked with the keys removed from the ignition when it slipped out of park, rolled down a hill and hit a tree. Fortunately, no kids were playing in th yard. A movie was taken that shows the gear shift lever could be moved freely out of park without the keys in the ignition, the brake pedal depressed, or the shift lever button depressed. I was unfortunately taught to only use the parking brake while p rked on a steep hill or in the event of an emergency. However, there are three safety features which should have prevented my car from coming out of park. Volvo will not admit that there is a safety problem. So far, I know of two other volvo's that had the same problem. Please help me convince volvo to recall the applicable parts.

Thought we were buying a great car, but have had problem after problem. Today(second time) the car was carried to dealership via roll-back. Tried to tell maintenance manager that the car has a wiring problem when the car was just a few months old. Powe lock motors have been replacedas well as several tail lights and headlights. This time it would not crank correctly and the clock and odometer went crazy. "They" said it could be the battery, but insisted I not drive it to dealership which is 55 miles way. Really starting to worry about faulty wiring causing a fire or leaving me stranded. Don't think I want another Volvo.

Driving down the highway, at the posted speed limit, the right front parking light assembly popped free and as the wiring was still connected to the car, proceeded to beat up the fender, even the hood. Volvo, the dealer and the regional office, insist the light must have been broken previously. The light assembly was not retreived, due to heavy traffic. I insist that Volvo is responsible. The right headlight was replaced (by the dealer) two weeks prior. So far, Volvo is winning. Any similar incidents?

The BMW locking system is a dangerous situation!! Owners and passengers must be warned. If the car is locked with the remote on the key and someone is left inside the car..they will not be able to get out of the car. Especially dangerous in hot weather climates. Recently someone inadvertently locked a passenger in the car and walked away thinking that the person can unlock the door from the inside. That person became trapped and the car got extremely hot very quickly....only by banging on the windows id the alarm finally go off and the owner returned astounded that BMW would design such a dangerous system!

This case will benefit members of public that they should NOT "take thing for granted" and assume that they will be given a "BRAND NEW" vehicle when they have paid for a new vehicle. In addition, your effort to publish this case will also help to reduce, or even eliminate, unethical business activities by many car dealers, in this case New Car Dealers. We were driving back home one day and the car started acting like it was running out of gas. Before we reached the gas station (thank God) it died. About fifteen minutes later, all that was left was a burnt shell. The fire totally engulfed the car and melted everything from the dash to the back hatch. Anyone ever heard of anything like this?? lease e-mail me if you have, Kelly G.

The left rear axle snapped off at the rear bearing after braking, detaching the wheel and rotor from the car, throwing the car violently to the right, off the road and down an embankment. Please advise if this has been a problem with anyone else.

volvo finance has nickeled and dimed me for every tiny scratch when I returned the lease even though the car was delivered to me with those scratches. The lease dept. is unreasonable and out to get you. Be careful if you lease a Volvo.

My previous complaint should now be removed by this provider. GM is addressing my concerns on this brake issue. However, it appears that this site provider does not respond to site questions.

In 1995 when I bought it or leased it within 400 miles the OD light kept coming on. well it ended up that the transmission needed to be fixed. they put a new transmission in because it was still under warranty. The dealership in the rural area I moved to didn't want to fix it because they didn't sell it to me. so I drove it over 400 miles to the dealership where I purchased it, they kept it for over one month. within 18 months the transmission went out again this time it WAS NOT under warranty, I received the honor of paying over 2500 for a new transmisssion. Now one of the cylinders is out which mean they will have to pull the head off and look to see what is wrong for sure. another 1000. well the air condition generator has been out since the winter of 1995, and without the generator the air won't work. I can live with that but lemon laws don't work here in ND. HELP

Our Suburban pulls left when ever we apply the brakes. The odd time it will pull to the right. There are times when it has pulled us into the oncoming traffic. The most frightning experience is traveling at 70 MPH and having to make a quick stop. It will ull you over 1 lane. This problem has been with us since delivery and to date have had it back to the dealer 17 times. GM continues to close their eyes on this, stating that their trucks don't pull during brake application. We secretly have found out, that GM has sent their dealers a TSB (technical service bulletin) in 1998 addressing this problem with their Suburbans, but to the public, they verbally announce the no problem exists with these trucks. We have been forced to lease a new vehicle now, because of the risk of our lives and others on the road. The truck is parked in the garage because it is unsafe to drive and also because we can't sell it. If anyone out there knows of other Suburbans with this problem, please e-mail me. Your support sure would help. Thanks.

Car stalls. Engine just quits. Feels like fuel related but have gone through 3 new fuel pumps in 120 days. Has been towed to dealers 5 times. All systems check out and dealer cannot fix. Is this an electrical related problem? Any similar history?

I just replaced the front brake pads on my son's 1995 850. Surprisingly, the outboard pads were worn more than the inboard ones. I always thought the inboard pads wore the most because they always had the piston pushing on them. Its always been this way for the Hondas I have owned. On another matter, I am having trouble trying to determine conclusively whether I should use the 1/2 shim or the full shim on the rear pads. Different Volvo parts people have different answers. I had thought the full shim was a replacement for the 1/2 shim when the S70 rear brake pads (Part No. 271758-5), which are now also shown as the pads for the 850, came out. The full shim is considerably thinner than the 1/2 shim.

Hi, I've had a similar problem with my 850 auto which 'lurched' (thunk noise etc) at around 20mph and 10mph (i'm in the UK). didn't do it going up the box only down. This was traced in my case to a failed solenoid inside the gear box and resulted in a nasty bill of over Ł1,200!! to rebuild the box. It now seems OK but occasionally 'whistles' until it's warm. Incidentally my car was a three year old import from Hong Kong. Other people i've spoken to say sometimes that thunk can happen and don't worry about it. One report (from USA) noted that the auto boxes on the 850 was a bit 'primitive'.TC

I have a transmission problem ever since I bought the above car and my dealer can't solve the problem. When I leave the accelerator pedal around 40Km/h there is Thung/Clunk sound as the gear shifts downwards around 35 to 30Km/h. My dealer claims this is normal and I disagree. My freind has a Volvo S70 with the same problem. His gear-box has been changed twice with no differance. I was also told that there is no repair kit provided by Volvo for rectifying problems with the transmission. Please Help.Thank you Dr.Ramani Fernandezramani@pc.jaring.my
