This is the sports model of Jaguar's XJ220. It is called XJ220 because the designers wanted it have a top speed of 220MPH. The very limited construction of 220 XJ220s started in late 1988. But things did not go well for Jaguar, in the early 90's Britain went into recession and the people who had put down their £20,000 deposit for the £400,000 XJ220 could no longer afford them. Buyers pulled out and lost their deposit rather than buying a car they couldn't afford. Then shortly after the recession McLaren built it's awesome McLaren F1 with a top speed of 241MPH. Would-be buyers of the XJ220 saw the McLaren F1 and even more pulled out of buying their XJ200. Jaguar was losing lots of money on the XJ220 so it decided to take these people to court to make them buy the XJ220. Jaguar won the court battle and the people reluctantly paid for their XJ220s. Today you can buy one for just £200,000!
