My Garage in Gran Turismo!

As many of my friends know that I am the Gran Turismo fan! I like cars and driving so much and this Gran Turismo game in Playstation is simply the best racing game you can ever see! It's not those just a simple racing game... it's a driving simulator as the handling of the cars (and between various drivetrain/engine types) is so realistic! Playing this game plus studying all the driving tips and car tuning notes on the web really educated me a lot about cars and the driving fun!

Here in this page, I will show you the cars currently in my garage which I bought in Gran Turismo... most of them are simply the cars I like and want to own in real life! These pictures are copied from the Gran Turismo official web site so the color and the accessories of my cars look a bit different from what you see here. I will keep updating this page to show you more and more cars I own... in Gran Turismo! :)

My cars as of 19 March 1999:

My first car, when I only had 10,000 credit to start with:

My second car, hey, this is exactly the car I drive in real life! Mine has a spoiler on it... but this is what I mean by realisticism... this car in Gran Turismo looks exactly the same as mine... even the wheels are exactly the same. Cool!

This is a car I like too... it's sibling of my Prelude... they have similar performance though Type-R in real life has better handling:

This is my friend's car in real life (though his in black). I bought it simply for racing his car with my Prelude... hee hee, of course this doesn't sound a fair play! :P

Hey, Civic again?! No, I am not a Civic fan... but this Civic Type-R is what I got after winning the LightWeight Cars Racing.

This is the previous (4th) generation of Prelude... of course you can expect I love Prelude... so that's why I bought it.

This is my fastest stock car... no tune up at all and it has original 440HP! Handling is exceptionally good for a high power rear-wheel-drive car like this, partly thanks to its big tires. I like Viper... they are fast and hot-looking... but just a bit too expensive in real life.

This is my fastest car after tuning... Its peak HP now is 880HP!! Simply too fast to control it! Supra is always something I wish to own in real life, but its high price turn me off... I'd rather buy a Porsche Boxster or BMW M3. :)

This Evolution IV is my favorite. Handling is so good because of its 4-wheel-drive. And it looks cool... it's not available in Canada, but you can see it in Jackie Chan's movie. After tune up, this car now has 460HP or so... thus it's a good performer!

Don't ask me why I bought this car... I don't know... at first I thought it could be a fast car because of its light weight... but my first drive indicated that it's pretty slow... so then I never touched it anymore.

Hey, this is the Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo... according to most GT fans, this is a very fast car (can be tuned to over 900HP) and with good handling. I just bought it and added the racing mods... so I will see if it runs that well.

NSX is my dream car... it looks good and it's said as the best handling exotic cars on the street... many magazines claimed that it's simply perfect -- from handling to engine sound. So I bought this used '91 NSX ('cos it's cheaper) and tuned it. But the result is disappointed as it's very difficult to drive in Gran Turismo... I don't know if it's because my poor tuning or the 91 model is simply not as good as the new NSX Type-S (or Type-S Zero)? Anyway, I still like the look of this car. Too expensive in real life though! Canadian$140,000?!

I got this DB7 from winning a race... looks alright but runs slow in stock. I don't have money to tune it now... so just leave it in my garage! :P

I also got an Camero 30th Anniversary model from a race. No time to try it out yet!

I also have a Nissan SilEighty from a race. It's (I think) the old 240SX in Canada. Haven't tried it yet. Mine is in yellow color!

300ZX is always a car I wanted to own... it really looks slick on the street and it doesn't look too "fancy"... so it can be driven to anywhere in any occasion. The twin turbo model produces 300HP which is appealing to me... unfortunately it's no longer in production. Anyway, once I tried this car out in GT, I'm glad that I didn't buy this car (and after all, I couldn't afford it anyway! :P). Because this car is so difficult to drive and it spins everytime you turn! There's probably too much HP on the rear wheel so that you simply can't keep your gas button down... you have to be driving it very carefully and tapping on the gas button to avoid too much throttle input. Well, because of its difficult driveability, I didn't do very well with it in any race... and so I think I will just have to give it up and leave it in my "virtual" garage!

I bought this car because I heard other people talking about its perfect handling and fast acceleration due to its light weight. However, I won its sibling "Cerbera LM" soon after I bought this and the Cerbera is probably faster... so I haven't yet had a chance to really tune this car and use it.

I won the Cerbera LM from a race... the car is racing modified and so it looks a little different from this picture. But anyway, this car is the best car I driven in GT so far... very fast mostly due to its excellent power to weight ratio. Plus it corners perfectly! It's really like it's on a track when going through all the corners, as others on the web said. You need to spend some time to get used to this car because of its high speed and light weight (so if you turn it too sharp, it spins). But once you're used to the counter steering for this car, you will find it perfect. I used this car to beat all the 900+HP components in the MegaSpeed Race even though it only has around 550HP!!! So nothing else I can say, this car is the best... the one comparable is the Dodge Concept Car (Modified)... See below.

Subaru Impreza WRX is a very good-handling 4WD car! It accelerates fast and corner well... I actually won this car from a race and I quickly did a racing modification on it because I simply like the blue color and the stickers which makes it look like the Subaru World Rally Champion Impreza! Unfortunately this car doesn't have much max. speed so it's dangerous racing other cars on straight tracks.

RX7 was always one of my dream cars (so now you can tell I have so many "dreams"! :P Unfortunately it's no longer in production. This RX7 is pretty fast (and I learned that the real car is fast too) but I can't think of anything it stands out... so I rarely use it for my races in the game.

I won this car from the race. This car looks like the Lexus SC400 in North America and it's used to be one of my dream cars... but not anymore because I think it's simply too expensive and for the same amount of money, I am sure there're more exciting cars than this one. In the game, this car is not fast mostly because of its heavy weight... so I didn't bother to use it.

Won this car from the FF car race... well, nothing special about this car, so I don't bother to use/tune it yet.

I just won this Dodge Concept Car by winning the MegaSpeed Race yesterday (12April,1999). This car looks quite ugly in my opinion... and it's definitely hard to drive at the beginning. The car is too bumpy due to its extremely light weight (only 1300lb). To avoid it "flying" in every corner, the first thing I had to do is to reduce the Spring ratio and the Damper ratio (especially the rear settings) so that the car doesn't jump anymore. However, making the spring ratio and the damper too soft made the car bottom out (i.e., the bottom of the car hitting the ground... and you can really feel that through your dual shock control!). To fix the problem, I had to raise the ride height to a higher value (around 106 for the front and 110 for the rear). After all the adjustments, this car is now running great, though it still jumps (and sometimes runs with 2 wheels touching the ground) occasionally in corners. This car is very fast... because of its light weight and it corners well too... though you have to be very careful not to press the gas too hard while turning or you will end up in a lot of spins! Comparing to my Cerbera LM, this car doesn't corner as well. However, in term of speed, this car is comparable, and perhaps even faster than Cerbera. This is a fun car to drive anyway... but for sure, not for beginners! :)

Please check back later for more cars I will buy soon! :)
