Chevrolet is testing prototypes of the next generation Monte Carlo, which is due out next summer as a 2000 model. Judging from sneak photographs of the new car, it will considerably more stylish and distinctive than the current model. These prototypes of the 2000 Monte Carlo show similar styling to last year's Intimidator concept car. The new Monte Carlo will share much of the same suspension, steering, brakes, powertrains and other mechanical features with the new Impala (set to replace the Lumina). The Monte Carlo however, will get its own unique sheet metal and keep the Z34 edition with the performance-tuned engine and chassis components.
