In un ambiente di notevole suggestività, isolata su uno sprone alla sinistra della media valle del Sangro, Fallo gode di uno splendido panorama. Il
suo territorlo, che si estende per 6,79 kmq., ha raggiunto l'assetto attuale nel
1964, quando venne distaccato dal comune di Civitaluparella e riacquistò l'autonomia perduta nel 1928.
Borgo di origine medioevale, nel secolo XII è ricordato per la prima volta nel Catalogus Baronum (1082) sotto il nome Faldum, e figura come feudo di un milite subinfeudato a Horrisius Burrellus da Symon conte di Sangro.
Fallo è anche menzionata nell'Italia descrittanel "Libro dire Ruggero", compitato da al-Idrisi geografo arabo del secolo XII, come "al'fàl", distante 24 miglia da Cerro al Volturno; ventotto miglia da Montenerodomo e ventiquattro miglia da Castiglione M.M. (Idrisi, 117, 118 e 119).
Nel secoli successivi non si anno notizie storicamente accertate del borgo: si vuole che Fallo sia stata prima in dominjo dei Caldora, più tardi dci Colonna, dei Carafa, dei Segura e dei Tocco-Castiglione.
In una bolla arcivescovile del dicembre del 1530, conservata nell'archivio capitolare di Chieti, si ha notizia della chiesa di S. Nicola di Fallo (Balducci, Reg. II, 40).
Nel secolo XVIII, vi ebbero signoria i Caracciolo di Sanbuono che tennero la Terra fino alla fine dei diritti feudali.
