The Evolution of our
Modern Day Mousers

Revered in Ancient Egypt as well as today!

Dating back to the days of the sabre tooth tiger, cats have roamed the earth for millions of years.
Not always have they lived in the lap of luxury that we modern day pet owners afford our feline friends.

The cat species began over 30 million years ago. Today, there are a about 40 species of felines roaming the earth with only six being members of the genus Panthera (the kings of the cat world: tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard, clouded leopard and snow leopard)

Did you know...?

The largest cat in the world is the tiger, which can weigh up to 800 pounds (360 kg) and is 10 to 11 feet long. Tigers are an endangered species, hunted nearly to extinction.

The smallest cat on the globe is the Rusty-spotted cat, which lives in southern India and weighs about 4 pounds (1.6 kg).

Cheetahs, which have been recorded reaching speeds of 70 mph, is the only cat that doesn't have non-retractable claws which help it grip firmly into the ground.

Favoured as hunters, retrievers, pets and sacred animals, cats throughout history, were valued and worshipped in Egypt, Greece, and Rome. They even played an important role in the mid 1300s during the Black Plague, as they hunted the rats which carried the disease ridden fleas.
