And I have wanted to RANT for SO LONG...

How appropriate is it that this holiday season, I should choose to dump these worthless, social commentaries and have some real fun!! In fact, I think that is what this page was originally supposed to be about---fun. In fact, The Flipside was meant to be a jacked-up pink and purpley page with all kinds of gooney, girly crap (Powerpuff Girls, Rainbow Brite, etc)...
Lucky for most of you, it didn't go that route...
So maybe this will be some attempt to return to what things used to be...before I decided that I needed to take the few decisive and certain things in my life and turn them on their ear. And kick them.
I have a little ring on my finger. And I know that it really pisses some people off, but I have been through a gamut of relationships in my life...from the idyllic to the just plain hellish. I've been an iconoclast to some and to others I've been ON the pedestal (only to later be knocked off, and kicked in much the same fashion)...
It's a shame that people have to go through so much to learn a little common sense...what's good for us, most of the time, is right in front of our face.
And so, as I learn this lesson again, I have to pack up my books, pans, pillows, and herd my cats into another moving expedition...this one, however, is destined for home.
A home where I can't drive one block without seeing three people that I know. Where the grocery checker knows my name and always has some smart ass remark for me, because he knows I'll take it. Where I can read the newspaper and honestly recognize about 60 percent of the people's names. Where I can go to the same beach, sit on the same sand, go in the same water, and be friends with the same people, because they never move and get lives...
Home is walking down a dark street late at night, looking up and feeling like you are in a safe little bubble...and I want back in that bubble.
What's good for us might not always be the most exciting thing or something different. It might be right in front of our face...it might be right in, or even on, our hands. And it might not have a Costco or a Target, but it's home.
