My Place Under the Sun:
The Mighty Pen

The Mighty Pen

I've been fairly consistently and independently writing stories and poems since I was in the third grade. I gain incredible inspiration not only from life's journeys, but from other writers as well.

THE MUSE

And here are some of my favorite writers who've inspired me over the years:
  • Maeve Binchy-the author who made me fall in love with Ireland.
  • Mary Higgins Clark-who brought me to love a gripping mystery
  • Joyce Carol Oates-one of the most prolific and esteemed modern American authors; her works are intellectually and emotionally stimulating masterpieces.
  • Amy Tan-the woman who brought China to creative life in my heart.
  • Sylvia Plath-Check out a comprehensive site on this emotionally complex writer.
  • Neil Gaiman created the graphic novel series Sandman, which includes some of the most intelligently and creatively crafted writing I've seen. His novel Neverwhere also deserves a read.
  • William Shakespeare at Here Lieth a Pitious Shakespeare Page, a site that gives new life to the mighty Muse.
  • Gabriel Garcia Marquez-Maconda: A Gabriel Garcia Marquez Web Site. His novel One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the most incredible books I've ever read.
