Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, Meat Beat Manifesto, Gus Gus, Self, Deftones and God
Lives Underwater are just some of the contributors to "For The Masses", (a play on the
title of Depeche Mode's 1987 album, Music For The Masses), due Aug. 4, on 1500/A&M. The Cure's Robert Smith singing "The
World In My Eyes", which he characterizes as "pretty insane."
Billboard reports that the X-Files movie soundtrack (featuring a new song by the Cure) will be released on June 2nd.
According to a survey by the B.P.I. (British Phonographic Industry), The Cure are one of the most bootlegged bands in Britain (placing 20th). You can read the full story at the U2

New album info:
*just added* the Cure will be heading into the studios in a few weeks to
record.
I have been informed by a very reliable source that the Cure has
scheduled time in the studio in April and that the new album will most
likely be out sometime in September. Also, they plan to do a few shows
before the release and a tour after the release of the new album.
A lot of people have been speculating that April will see the new album
from the Cure, however according to past newsletters and my help from
Chris, September looks more 'it'. Robert is busy writing lyrics to the
songs and they have yet to go into the studio. Also, as for a summer
tour, remember that Robert and Simon never put a tour in front of the
football World Cup : )
