Lucifer's Hammer : Interviews

From Spiked Imp #2, 1995; by David Arnett, conducted with Andy (bassist).

DA: How did Lucifer's Hammer come about?
AS: The singer, Todd, and his brother Rob, the original drummer, put it together in the mid-80's.

DA: What bands most influence you?
AS: All the graveyard metal - Sodom, Possessed, Venom, Tiamat, Mercyful Fate, Mayhem...

DA: What do your lyrics deal with?
AS: Todd writes all the lyrics. He gets a lot of his ideas from books, movies, tripping in the woods, and opium dreams.

DA: Is "Hymns to the Moon" your only release?
AS: Other than 2 demos, "The Burning Church", and "Descent to Beyond".

DA: What was the first show you went to?
AS: It was a local band, Flyte. My brother would always take me to shows like Kiss and Priest!

DA: Any favorite movies?
AS: Evil Dead, Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii, and all The Twilight Zone's.

DA: How about books?
AS: "The Electric Koolaid Acid Test".

DA: What's the scene like in Mason, MI?
AS: Ha, ha, ha!! They have a Burger King, and a lot of pigs!

DA: What are some bands you've gotten to play with?
AS: Slayer, Mortician, Incantation, Infernal Faith, Eyegouger, Autopsy, Pungent Stench, Morbid Angel, Solitude Aeturnus, Vital Remains, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Head Rot, and more...

DA: What was the best gig you ever played?
AS: Any of the parties where everyone is drunk!

DA: The worst?
AS: Michigan Deathfest One. When our band was at it's worst!

DA: What are your plans for the rest of 1995?
AS: Try and play some parties (hopefully away from here), and a release in December!

DA: Last words!
AS: Everyone, write! Thanks Dave.
