Mystery Achievement

The New Originals

At the Ballroom Bash 1987

From an unoriginal name stolen from a band who stole it from a band. It reaches chicken and egg like paradoxical proportions.

If you ever go to UBC to study know this: they mark everything out of 150.  That 80 you got ain't so good. I met all the members of the New Originals through the UBC Musician's Network. I spent a lot of time learning tunes, hiking, hanging out at Granville Island and goofing around in the Pottery Club. I never scored above 100. So it Goes.

Mike (guitar) was keen on getting a band together. He did a lot of the leg work to get things off the ground. Erin (vocals) was one of Mike's first recruits. Then came Craig (drums) and John (keys). Technically we weren't the most proficient band, but we made up for it in energy. I only spent 8 months in Vancouver, but I squeezed a few years worth of playing out of this band. More importantly was the friendship. Perhaps you can hear it on the tape?
