REVIEW BLUE

had taken several lessons from Juri. My buddy Jack had recommended him. It was a lot of fun. Our practices would turn into jam sessions. After taking a break from lessons, Juri gave me a call. He was looking to put a blues band together, and needed a bass player. This was the first time I had worked with a serious songwriter. He still wanted to play cover material. Especially the Stones; man he loved his stones. I think it was the English major in Juri; Mic's lyrics are surprisingly deep for such a showboat.
Three of us started out. Myself, Juri and Ivan. Ivan defected from Czechoslovakia when, while serving his mandatory military service, he discovered he wouldn't get into the drum Corps. You gotta like this man's priorities. Juri served his service, but left when his family left. It was like playing in a Czech. reunion band only not. Ivan taught me how to play in the pocket, and Juri taught me how to put together a song. Eventually we invited a few sax players into the group. Wayne was the most consistent. It was a good sound, the groove is solid and the experimentation was in the spirit of the day.
Give one of Juri's compositions a listen.
